About 3 years ago I had the Lap Band surgery performed. Needless to say, it saved my life! At the time of the surgery I weighed about 375 pounds, maybe even more (I am only 4'11''!!!). I now currently weigh 150 pounds. The change has been astonishing and drastic not only to my friends and family, but to myself as well. The experience of the surgery was not too bad. I personally was walking and doing everything as normal as possible probably about a week to two weeks later. Even though the incisions were small, I felt a little sore. Dr. Gonzalez did prepare me wonderfully. He told me how I would feel and that I would probably be up and about within a few days. He was right.

I have known people that do that the next day after surgery!! Anyway, the pain was tolerable. When I felt a little bit of pain I took some pain medication that the doctor prescribed and that only lasted for a few days. The only thing that did create a little bit of discomfort was a little cramping in my stomach that lasted also just a few days. I have also spoken to other people that have had the same symptoms and others that really didn't feel much of anything. Honestly, the physical pain is very, very minor.

The hardest change that we all have to endure is the mental one! Learning how to eat correctly: when and how often is probably the hardest thing to overcome, one that to this day I am still working on! I know that I was extremely scared before I had the surgery because I had never really had any serious operations or had to go to the doctor for anything important either. But I personally felt so sick, physically, that I knew that if I did not get this surgery done I would die no matter what. I had to do it.

I cannot tell you how this surgery has changed my life. Not only has it helped me physically, it has helped me grow mentally and spiritually! I am a completely diferent person now. I honestly have to thank Dr. Gonzalez and his team for helping me through this journey. He is an incredible doctor that knows what he is doing. I have total faith and confidence in him, and once you decide to get your procedure done, I am sure you will feel the same as I do. Doctor Gonzalez and his team are an exceptional group of professionals that are knowledgeable and have the best attitudes I have seen.

I hope that this will help decide what is best for you. I know it's a hard decision to make when it comes to our own lives. Funny thing is it should be the easiest one to make!
